Designing a fundraising page from scratch

This self-initiated end-to-end project is dear to my heart. During my development and globalization minor, I had the chance to set up a project in Ghana with a local grassroots organization. I decided to spend my time and resources on the Stars of God Academy School. The school's goal is to provide education for less fortunate children—a wonderful initiative that, sadly, is facing financial challenges. I played a key role by creating a fundraising page to attract donors and secure funds for the school.

final design

The final design is based on the predefined requirements, maintains a school theme, and is mobile-friendly. The site strategically guides users through key information points to build trust for the ultimate goal of donation. It employs color psychology on each page, using green to convey positive hope and growth and blue to instill trust on the donation page. Emphasis is placed on personalization and transparency, allowing direct contact with the school for ideas and suggestions. Additionally, an Instagram account is connected for regular updates.

reflection

This was my first project that I started on my own, and it had lots of problems and tight deadlines. But I learned a ton and felt good knowing I could handle it. Working in a different culture was tough at first. Things work differently in Ghana, and you have to be flexible when things don't go as planned. Setting up a way for them to get payments was hard because they didn't have a bank account. Also, I never developed a website before, so that was a big challenge. I couldn't make the site exactly how I designed it initially. But I learned a bunch and really enjoyed working in a different culture, which brought me the most joy. Lastly, because the school had urgent issues, I organized a fundraiser mid-project and collected more than 1000 euros in a day. It felt amazing, and I'll always remember that.
